NCLEX-PN is a computer-based exam that consists of multiple-choice questions. NCLEX-PN exam is designed to test the knowledge and skills required to provide safe and effective nursing care to patients. The questions are divided into four categories: safe and effective care environment, health promotion and maintenance, psychosocial integrity, and physiological integrity.

To be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam, a candidate must have completed an accredited practical or vocational nursing program and meet the requirements of the state board of nursing where they plan to practice. Candidates must also apply for licensure with the state board of nursing and pay the appropriate fees. Once the candidate’s eligibility is verified, they will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT), which will allow them to schedule an exam date.

NCLEX-PN exam is a comprehensive test that has become a critical measure of nursing competency in the US. The test evaluates students' knowledge in four major content areas and assures the public and healthcare providers that licensed practical nurses who have passed the exam are competent and capable of providing quality healthcare to patients in various healthcare settings. Passing the exam is a requirement to obtain a nursing license and practice as a practical nurse in the United States.
